Mandatory prior to Placement

This module explores reasons for delivering counselling online, including by text/email, or by phone and covers the things you need to be aware of in doing so.  The following are discussed:

• Reasons for working remotely
• Practical considerations (mechanisms, software, limitations, technology risks)
• Ethical factors in remote working
• Risks to client and counsellor
• Boundaries, disassociation and attachment in remote working
• Clients and issues that may be unsuitable for remote working.

There is also the opportunity to practice therapeutic work with a client you can’t physically see, for those who are unused to this kind of work.
